Palermo hotel urgent!

HI can anyone suggest a good hotel in Palermo with a budget less than 50$. I've been trying for so long to find a nice one which could be of a good location as well. I'm student so a low budget hotel preferably 2 stars not less, or a hostel would be great. I heard certain areas in Palermo are not so safe. anyone can help please? i'm travelling this weekend!

Most of the cheaper hotels are around the Central Train Station. There are a couple of exceptions in the "modern" part of town. Try the Hotel Petit on Via Principe di Belmonte.

Hotel Posta would be fine, but (I believe) is priced similar to the Gardenia. The area around the train station is not dangerous per se, particularly if the three of you go out together, don't stay out really late, and stick to the well illuminated major streets (there are lots of dark and narrow alleyways in the surroundings). It is, however, a noisy and somewhat dilapidated part of town (some might euphemistically describe it as "atmospheric&quot. North of Via Cavour, streets are wider and buildings are more modern (although there are lots of "drab" structures)
