Palau de la Musica - Barcelona

I know there are tours offered of this site, but I think I read somewhere that you can just go in and look around for free? Is that true? I could not tell from the website. With the woes of the dollar, I'm having to really think about where to spend my pennies!

No- You cannot just go in and look around. You can enter the ticket office, but not the main foyer nor the music hall.

The guided tour is really worth it - the interior is amazing.

I went there for a concert and then took a tour the next day. Both visits were well worth my pennies.

FWIW, the Palau and the Hospital Sant Pau, both designed by Lluís Domènech i Montaner, are designated as a UNESCO site. That says something, right?

Please be sure and buy your tickets early. We went and tried to buy them the same day and they were sold out. Unfortunately, we were leaving the next day so couldn't try to get them then.

I enjoyed the tour and the building is beautiful, but you cannot take pictures inside - if that makes any difference to you w/r/t your decision-making. I'd still go, and I'd buy a postcard in one of the giftshops in the area.

Thanks for the info - maybe I'll book a tour for myself early one morning and let my daughter sleep in - I'm sure I'll enjoy it more than she would and if its just for me, its not very expensive.

We too enjoyed the tour and also enjoyed going to a concert there in the evening.

That's great. When I went in Feb 08, they didn't have the online booking yet. I had to book it via email, and between the time difference and their rejection of my CC (I wanted to use my AMEX but they don't accept it), it took like 4 days to get my ticket secured.

yk - the online booking must be brand new because we did it in March. The tours sell out really quickly.

We had booked for a Friday and I woke up that morning sick as a dog - my husband went over to the box office to see what we could do about our tickets (which we had paid for online with a very clear warning there were no returns or refunds). The fellow at the box office was very helpful. The tour we were booked on was sold out so he told Richard to stand to the side and wait until somebody attempted to purchase tickets - and he directed them to Richard who sold them to an English couple. Everyone was happy and we re-booked for another day.
