Palace of Versailles guided tours

I have written here before about being in Paris for a few days for our first trip. Although it has been difficult to choose what to see, we are definitely interested in having a guided tour through Versailles. We would like to do all we can to avoid long lines!

Could you please recommend guided tour groups? Thanks!

There are guided tours offered at the château. All the info you need to learn about guided tours or anything else about the château can be found on the château website:

http://en.chateauversailles.fr/homepage

Guided Tours:

FAQ's:

Unless you are intensely interested in the history of Versailles the audio-guide (included in admission price) is perfectly adequate.

To help avoid lines get a Paris Museum Pass and you can use it in Paris at Louvre, Orsay, etc. Lets you avoid ticket lines and at Louvre special entrance for ticket/pass holders.

The two times I used guides at Versailles, they were excellent. I still remember the tour of the theater.

I saw a documentary several years ago about the rigorous training and examinations required to become an official guide.

Worth the cost for many reasons.

I loved the opera but my favorite was Marie Antoinette's nap room. Imagine...a room just for an afternoon nap!
