Oxford to Turville
My brother will be staying in Oxford (without a car) and would like to tour Turville (Vicar of Dibley, Midsomers Murders, etc). He's been on the internet but can't seem to find bus or train service.
Any suggestions?

There are few alternatives to a car, since there's no bus going through Turville.
It's 20-odd miles from Oxford, so a taxi's going to cost around a hudred quid there, back and wait for him.
There are a few direct coaches a day from Oxford to High Wycombe, which is the nearest cab rank to Turville. It's then about a six mile each way cab journey: say about thirty-odd quid ith waiting time

Waiting time = the time the cab driver waits for him to get back in the cab and ride back. You have to pay for the time the cab hangs around. Since there are no cabs IN Turville - he will have to pay the driver for his dead time if he wants a ride back to Oxford . . . .
(If he is staying over in Turville (unlikely but possible) there wouldn't be a wait time, but he'd have to call a cab to come and get him the next day.)

Can't remember Oxford City waiting time rates. But waiting time in London is just under 60p a minute - £33 an hour. It's a bit less (but only a bit) for an Oxford or High Wycombe taxi.
If he's serious about six hours (though 6 minutes would be pushing it) he needs to book a cab one way, take his mobile and ring the cab company to collect him.

Your brother may also be interested in the Inspector Morse Tour in Oxford. We are looking into this tour for our visit in November. I learned about this on www.visitoxford.org.

Dear Nini.
Be sure you arrive early for the tour.
My brother and I were delayed in Paddington (some type of train schedule delay; we were delayed for over one hour) and were only 10 minutes late for the Morse tour. The group had left just 5 minutes ahead of us but they wouldn't let us catch up, which was such as disappointment. We walked around hoping to join the tour but never found them. We LOVED Oxford though and had a great day anyway.
