overnight layover in Paris.....worth it?
We've never been to Paris and will be traveling back to the U.S. from Italy in October. Is it worth it to stop over in Paris for just one night? I think so. We'd arrive in Paris at noon and leave at 10am the following day.
Thank you for your advice.

Oui!
You'll have time for a look around, and not much else (forget the Louvre and the Musée d'Orsay except to see where they are). But you can see a number of landmark sites very quickly and take away a mental image. And then you'll want to go back.

I would definitely go for it. Although they are not usually my sort of thing, with only one day I would defiitiely consider doing a day tour or the hop on/hop off bus in order to see as much as possible.
Do a night tour of the Seine as well to see the lights. Forget the ones which include dinner (very so so) and book a nice restaurant for before or after the boat trip.
During your rushing around do take the time to just stop and have a cup of coffee at a Parisian cafe and soak up the atmosphere for a little while.
