Overnight Ferry from Crete to Athens

My husband and I (70 and 69 years old) will be in Greece for 9 days beginning on Aug 20 (an add-on to a trip to Provence for a wedding). This will be our first time in Greece. We fly from Marseilles to Athens and are considering making Crete our last stop (with 2 or 3 days there) and taking the overnight Mykonos Palace Ferry (with sleeping cabin) back to Athens to spend our final day and night in Athens before flying home early on August 29. Other planned stops are Santorini and Mykonos (and/or possibly Naxos). Has anyone had any experience with the Mykonos Palace Ferry? Would appreciate any comments/suggestions about the ferry or any other aspects of the trip.

Mykonos Palace or Knossos Palace?
Are you sure that there will still be cabins available for August 27th?

Thank you for your reply.
It's Mykonos Palace. I'm using www.letsferry.gr.
Here are the details:
2berth Deluxe Cabin ( Whole Cabin )
102,00 € per person
Are you familiar with this ferry?

Hi, we travelled on an overnight ferry from Chania (Crete) to Piraeus but it was a few years ago and I don't remember the name of it. We had a good trip, the cabin was fairly basic, clean, and had two single beds and a private shower and toilet. This was in October so not that many people on the ferry. The staff were helpful. We slept surprisingly well and I'm pretty sure there were loudspeaker announcements on arrival so everyone knew to get up and get going.

One thing I would suggest is researching before you go - online or in guidebooks - the Piraeus ferry port area so you know where to go on arrival. It might be another ferry, or a bus into Athens. We thought signage was very poor and managed to figure out where to go for our next ferry to Hydra but it wasn't easy.

The OP is not clear about the route. Searching www.gtp.gr, shows the OP is probably talking about:

Aug 27 23:59 - Aug 28 6:30 Chania - Piraeus. Minoan Lines, Mykonos Palace.
instead of
Aug 27 22:00 - Aug 28 6:30 Iraklio - Piraeus. Minoan Lines, Knossos Palace.

It is also not clear how the OP has worked out the days math.
If OP is flying MRS-ATH on August 20, I presume it is AEGEAN 3695 11:15-14:50. If OP flies immediately upon landing at ATH to JMK, the the proposed Mykonos, Santorini, Create, might look like:

Aug 20 night - Mykonos
Aug 21 night - Mykonos
Aug 22 night - Santorini
Aug 23 night - Santorini
Aug 24 night - Iraklio/Chania
Aug 25 night - Chania
Aug 26 night - Chania
Aug 27 night - on boat
Aug 28 night - Athens
Aug 29 day - fly home

The www.gtp.gr shows there is no Santorini to Chania boat. There are
ATI-HCI (Santorini-Iraklio)
ATI-RET (Santorini-Rethymnon) (Saturday only=Aug 25, Seajets)
boats. If this is true, the OP needs to be aware that Mykonos Palace leaves from Chania. The day allocation seems to indicate Santorini to Crete would have to be Iraklio, in which case the OP needs to move from Iraklio to Chania to catch the Minoan Lines Mykonos Palace.

I don't see how OP can add Naxos into this.

I totally agree with greg that a 9-night stay would not allow ANY stop at Naxos, from a time-standpoint. If they wish to experience Naxos, they would have to forego Mykonos. and even so, it may not be feasible, because instead of flying into Mykonos on arrival, they'd have to fly in to Naxos, which has only 2 flights per day, and the 2n flight probably is fully booked (small planes).
