My husband will be driving from the UK to Frankfurt for business and needs somewhere to spend the night that is no more than three hours from Frankfurt (assuming no major hold ups) off the E40, which looks to me like it should be somewhere in the Aachen / Cologne area.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a town or village easily accessible from the E40?

Hotel Benelux was great for us last in old town Aachen
capital of Charles the Great very pretty and historic.
But many other nice options.

It's about 4 miles, or 8 mins, off the E40, at the Trierer Strasse exit to the edge of the Altstadt;
