For those thinking about changing to a Chromebook....."

Good info. Thanks. All I'll need to do with my new Chromebook, while abroad, is check e-mail and different websites until I get back home to my beloved MacBook Air. But, I'll really miss not taking my 11" MacBook Air as I can work a lot faster on it. I'm on it now, but have been practicing on my new Chromebook.

Happy Travels!

Andrew, were you on 10:55 a.m. Flight to SLC? That was our flight, on Monday.

It would have been funny to bump into you again!

We also had issues/confusion with Delta vs. AF as original ticket booked via AF, but then when I called customer service to have my name corrected, the person who answered was Delta, she ticketed everything through Delta and then it seemed to vary whether AF or Delta was the big cheese including check in... 2 different confirmation numbers, couldn't check from Delta email link (on my phone) said must use AF. I waited a bit, then used iPad and was able to check in on Delta.

Yeah, I wound up on the 10:55 to SLC. I prefer the Airbus that Delta flies between Portland and Amsterdam to the old 767 I was on today. The seats seem smaller, too (I was in plain-old coach). Otherwise the flight was OK - about 30 min early into SLC. The flight was full, but the woman next to me didn't fight me for the armrest and was pleasant to talk to.

I should add to my experience above that my seatmate arrived at CDG about an hour after I did, and she said it was much busier at immigration than when I'd breezed through. So maybe there are a bunch of flights leaving about the same time late morning and that's when the lines get long. Paradoxically, if you arrive really early like I did this morning, you might feel like you didn't need to, because it doesn't seem busy, like you could have arrived an hour later - but if you arrived an hour later, things would be much busier and you'd wish you had arrived earlier!

I would never put any expensive electronic devices in checked baggage - or anything else you couldn't replace without effort and expense. There have been MANY instances of baggage handler theft in the past at MIA, my home airport.

I flew out of CDG May 24 at 11:45 AM, Terminal 2A, AA flight. I had my hotel book me a shuttle to airport. The receptionist told me that an 8:30 pick up would be plenty of time. Fortunately I didn't listen to him, and booked for 7:30. There was a HUGE line at American to check in. I told the agent at beginning of line that I needed a wheelchair to get to gate (which I did!). She nicely directed me to go to the Priority line (which was empty). They didn't question about using that line, checked me in, checked my bag and directed me where to go for the wheelchair assistance. The security line looked huge too, but I was whisked right through. The whole experience was fantastic. I've never done that before, but I'm WAY old enough! The point of my posting this is to encourage any of you traveling elderly who might be reading this (and don't want to give in to getting "old") - just do it.
Especially at the airport! I also asked for assistance at MIA, too, which was a real lifesaver. There's about a 10 mile walk at the AA arriving terminal and Immigration lines are a nightmare in Miami.

But back to this original post, I would always allow at least 3 hours at CDG before flight.
