Our honeymoon in France help
We are leaving NYC on September 11 to arrive in Paris
on the 12.
We are staying in Paris from 12 - 16
16 - 21 staying in Nice
As we have never been to Europe how much would the average budget be for this many days. We are not extravagant with our spending would like to maybe eat out in a fancy resturant 1 or 2 times.
Could you recommend a few resturants in Paris and in Nice.
Thank you
sally

Hi kittpom,
Congratulations on the wedding and honeymoon!
Have you already booked your hotels? Are you planning on renting a car or using trains/metro/taxi cabs?
You can find out how much the various attractions (i.e., Lourve, Versailles, etc.) cost by clicking on Destinations (look up at the orange menu going across the screen). Just click until you reach Paris and then you can nail down the admission cost and the hour everything is open.

Yes we have all our hotels and we are flying from Paris to Nice. Really just trying to figure out eating and cost of subways around Paris and trains for the South of France and coast of Italy.

CONGRATULATIONS~~!!
I still think of pizza at La Coupoule in Nice. Nothing extravagant whatsoever, but I loved it! They have great salads as well. For lunch/snack it is definitely a way to go. There are some nice restuarants around Cours Saleya.

Where in Italy do you want to go specifically?
You can check out train schedules (which will let you know the duration of the journey) on www.bahn.de. Just click on the English option

Hi Kittypom- my husband and I are going to Nice in two weeks.. will post a reply for restaurant recs when I return... do you know where in Italy you want to go?
I think San Remo is fairly close. I don't know trains (we are renting a car in Nice and driving to Italy) but from what I can tell, San Remo is about a 45 minute drive from Nice.
I'll post again when I return..

Nice is very close to the border of Italy, so it isn't very far at all -- about 15 miles, I think.
A food budget shouldn't be anything unusually high for you. I agree you can imagine spending about what you'd spend at home for food if you ate out. NYC has some expensive restaurants, but some good cheap ones, and it's the same way in France.
There are so many hundred of restaurants in Paris, it's hard to say where to recommend. Where are you staying?

We've done Nice-San Remo a couple of times. It is about 40 miles from Nice (about 20 to the border). HOWEVER, it is a sort of coastal road with the associated traffic, so PLAN for 1-2 hours minimum. The first Italian border town, Ventimiglia, is kinda crummy, not that San Remo is that much better either, certainly not the glitz you may associate with a casino. I would not waste time to go into Italy, other than to get some gelato (right in front of the casino there is a gelato stand; scrumptious! Have fun!
