My best wishes to you too, Bookchick, for a speedy recovery! Use your current "down time" to enumerate all the places in Italy you need to see/experience again as soon as possible. That should fill you with positive energy and colorful images!

"Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counsellors, and the most patient of teachers." - Charles W. Eliot

The same can be said of our "Bookchick".

Godspeed with Recovery!

My Dear Friends,
Thank you all so very much for the prayers and good wishes! What a delightful post for me!

I was discharged from the hospital yesterday. Surgery went very well with minimal blood loss. I have a return visit to the surgeon's office Tuesday for removal of staples. So far, so good!

I will be recuperating at home for some time, as the surgeon wrote me "off work" and out of the office until April 26th. I figure by that time, in my part of America, it really will be spring, and I'll want to be anywhere BUT inside my house! Naturally I have stockpiled a good many books to read during my convalescence.

The stay in the hospital was not too bad, and I have to say that IV sedation paired with a spinal anesthesia is a LOT easier on the body than general anesthesia, IMO.

Thanks again. I'm a little weak and walking a lot more slowly, but truly not in too much discomfort at all. And as I get stronger, I promise, I will be here more often.

Best Wishes to All,
BC

Glad you are home again. I agree with you about spinal anesthesia being easier than general. Ten years ago I had a hysterectomy with spinal anesthesia, and it was much more comfortable to recover from.

Enjoy all the books and get lots of rest. Then you will soon be ready for a trip this summer!

I am concentrating hard on recovering from a back injury so I can travel again. I actually hurt my back from too much walking on the cobblestones of Rome!
