In late July, after a few days in Oslo, we plan to take an overnight to Lilliehammer by train, coming back to Oslo the next day. Are train reservations necessary? There are several departure times per day, going both ways. We would probably go earlier, say mid-morning, to Lilliehammer, but later in the day back to Oslo.
We are looking at the Aksjemollen hotel in Lilliehammer. We plan to stay at the Radisson Blu back in Oslo, adjacent to the station, as the next day we will go on the "Norway in a Nutshell" tour (arranged through FjordTours) from the station at an early hour. We will overnight in Flam. Fjordtours are transferring our heavy luggage to Radisson Blu Bergen.

Are train reservations to/from Lilliehammer necessary?
Anyone with experience of luggage transfer by Fjord Tours? We are both a little nervous about seeing our luggage again.

It's a bit over 2 hours by train. Why an overnight? You might make it a day trip. Far less moving around with luggage

Thank you for the suggestion to make it a day trip, and not overnight. However, that is not our plan. We're meeting some folks there. The question we have is: do we need reservations, as we are not sure exactly when we could get to the train station, only that we need to be in Lilliehammer early afternoon.
