I was in the Orkneys in early June, but it was 11 years ago, so perhaps someone else will have more recent experience. I remember it being cool and windy with temps around 10 degrees Celsius. You'd definitely need pants, some sort of fleece and a windbreaker/raincoat.

10 might bebeing a BIT harsh, but do not count on sunbathing. It's been known, but it's usually on the front page of the Orcadian when it happens.
It should be 15-20, as dry as it ever gets in Orkney. Count on a breeze. As always, in Scotland- layer

I visited Orkney five years ago this July and had packed all my jumpers and wooly socks only to be pleasantly surprised. It was in the mid 20s for all of the trip. Lovely. I think it's incredibly temperamantal up there though, so worthwhile packing for an assortment of climes.

I don't remember it being that cold when I was in the Orkneys in June and I'm a cold natured person. I did wear long pants and probably a jacket or light sweater most of the stay but it wasn't freezing. We did have some drizzle so a windbreaker/raincoat is probably a good item to have.

We just returned. It was pleasant (like New England spring) temperature 60s and 70s. There is a pretty constant wind of 5-15 mph. I would say most days there was a bit of rain. Layers with a waterproof coat available would be your best bet. Have fun!
