Ordering Uffizi tix online?
I just tried to order tickets for the Uffizi online at http://www.weekendafirenze.com for my trip next month, but it looks like they changed the website and that isn't an option anymore. Does anyone know anything about that or know of another website where I can get tickets online?

Yes, unfortunately they no longer sell tickets
. The official Uffizi web site for tickets is www.uffizi.firenze.it/welcomeE.html but I believe this requires a phone call and fax (it did in 98). There is another *commercial* site that sells museum tickets with a nice mark-up at www.selectitaly.com/ <BR>Regards, Walter <BR>

Paige-- <BR>I came across this site--I don't think it is the one mentioned above--the cost is $15.00 US for each museum with a $5.00 charge if you have to change the dates..I think the price is pretty close to other sites I have seen--I will be doing more research before I buy here (I'm going in September)--perhaps someone on the forum could confirm prices for tickets so you (we) know if its the way to go! The site is listed below--have a great trip! <BR> <BR>www.initaly.com/regions/uffizi.htm

<BR>OH NO! Sorry to hear that Weekend a Firenze is no longer selling tickets (I had used them to purchase mine when I visited Florence last month). <BR>The other website mentioned above? Has anyone yet purchased their tickets online from them? Even with an extra $5 charge, it's worth your while to NOT have to wait 2 to 3 hours in line. <BR>

I got my hotel to make Uffizi reservations- no cost- when I made the hotel reservations. however, the afternoon we got to Florence about 4:00 we walked past the Uffizi and saw that there was no line at all, so we just walked in, cancelled our reservations and enjoyed seeing the Uffizi! This was in November.

There is no need to order tickets in advance and thereby pay a service charge. Just call the reservation office at the Uffizi; their number is 39 (0)55-294883. They will ask you what day and time you want and will give you a reservation number which you must have when you claim your ticket at the museum. It's really simple and doesn't cost anything extra (except of course for the phone call). And they speak english.

Sara: <BR>Just curious, does the Uffizi Reservation Office give out reservations on short notice? I'm going to be in Florence next week for 4 days. Also can I just wait & call once I arrive or are they too booked to risk last minute unavailability? Do you know Uffizi's hours? Many thanks, J

For advanced reservations: <BR>www.waf.iot/museires.htm <BR>Cost: Admission plus $5 (approximate) service charge. You can also reserve Galleria dell'Accademia tickets for the same price. <BR>It seems to be the same website as previous weekendafirenze site.

paige-based upon the current exchange rate--the cost differential is about $4.00--with initaly being $15.00 and the 'waf' site being $11.00--the difference between the two is that the 'waf' tickets cannot be exchanged for another date should your plans change. I will probably order through the 'waf' site-- Have a great trip.

To J: As far as the availability of reservations on short notice, my feeling is that since this is the busy tourist season (the line was about 2 hours long when we were in Florence last week), you might have a problem getting a reservation. I called about 4 weeks ahead and had no problem. It's worth the try; after all, there may be last minute cancellations. I don't know off hand the hours the Uffizi is open, but check any guidebook and they should list them. Hope this helps!
