Orbitz and Expedia 24 Hr Cancellation Policy?

Does anyone know how the 24 hr policy on Orbitz works to make changes in airfare (without penalty)? I assume I can make a change to the flight but not a cancellation, right?

Does Expedia have the same 24 hr policy? I may need to make a change with a ticket purchase through Expedia as well. Bit of a hassle...

As far as I know you still have to pay change fees plus airfare difference, regardless of being 24 hours. Expedia's most likely the same. Some airline's directly are a little more forgiving allowing changes without fees within 24 hours.

I thought Orbitz had a policy where you can make changes in 24 hrs if you realized you'd made a mistake in booking your flight, etc. I can't find anything on their website about it, however, so either I was thinking of their lowest fare guarantee or I dreamed this.

I think the rules now are: you can cancell the reservation within 24 hrs on both Orbitz and Expedia, and then wait till they refund your credit card.

And depending on the limit on your credit card you may or may not be able to make another reservation right away.

If you go to Orbitz, customer service (on the right, green buttons) it will take you to the FAQ, the change fees average $130, OUCH!

I emailed but I think you're right -- I have to pay a fee. I;ll see what they say...

I have another question about the low fare guarante -- it looks like it's only good for domestic airfare? I can't find the claim form to fill out either -- whatever I click on gives me directions/info about the guarantee but I can't find the claim form anywhere under My Trips.

Orbitz allows a courtesy cancellation within 24 hrs less their service fee on the ticket -$10.99. Expedia hasn't gotten back to me if they have a similar policy

I once canceled my flight on Orbitz for a nominal fee. I called them within an hour or two though. I was attempting to buy two tickets and noticed that if I said that one was traveling the price was lower (than the price for two divided by two). So my plan was to book the two tickets separately.

I succeeded in booking one, but when I tried the second ticket, the price went on.

So I called Orbitz to cancel the first booking.

Expedia just gave me a $50 voucher since it's been under 24 hrs. I can't use it with airfare, just their vacation packages or Expedia best buy hotels. better than nothing

I'm confused. Why did Expedia give you a voucher? Did the fare drop or something? Or did you cancel completely and they gave you a $50 voucher? If it's the latter, it doesn't sound like a very good cancelation policy.

oh sorry, I found a lower rate and called Expedia. First she suggested I cancel the ticket but then she was going to stick me with all these fees. Why would I do that when it would exceed my savings? Anyway, I suggested that I keep my current ticket with them but that she give me a voucher and she said o.k.

I wonder if you could have just said taht you made a mistake and canceled the ticket completely with a minimum service charge. Or maybe Orbitz really is better in that regard.
