I'm using the Bayern ticket to get around most of the time I'm in Germany, but I need some suggestions to get from Rothenburg ob der Tauber to Frankfurt. Is there a similar ticket? Are there any cheaper/better options?

You can use the Bayern-Ticket to get to Kahl(Main) then a local ticket the rest of the way. The local ticket is 6.95 euros per person. You do not have to exit the train at Kahl, just buy the ticket from Kahl to FRA before you leave Rothenburg.

Actually for more than 1 person it makes sense to buy a Quer-durchs-Land-Ticket (Cross country ticket) which costs 34 € for one person, plus 5 € add-on for 2nd to 5th traveller, and is valid on weekdays for whole Germany - under the same conditions as the Länder-Tickets (Bavaria Ticket etc.)

Thank you, that Quer-durchs-Land-Ticket was a great idea! Got us there very cheaply. It is going to be available through all of 2010 according to the writing in the ticket.
