It was great and very reasonably priced for what you get especially for a city hotel. I paied 110 euro pernight. Sumptuos and Huge room, and extremely clean. We were in room 6, with high ceilings, king bed, satellite tv, wireless internet, balcony supported by console brackets, and enclosed with a antique and beauriful marble balustrade. The house is massive and has two floors. It has living area of 180sq.m with fantastic ceiling. The breakfast was very typical…meats, cheeses, fruit, yogurt, and fresh coffee made just for you. I found it on http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_R...ome_Lazio.html

they have a website also www.palazzodelduca.com

Unfortunately, some of those reviews on tripadvisor are obvious fakes. The one from a "Paris" resident and the one from a
"Boston" resident are probably written by the same author. They use the same eccentric punctuation: three dots, to link two totally unrelated thoughts.

Also the "Boston" author writes in very bad English, perhaps the English of a native Italian or French speaker.

I am not questioning your recommendation of the place but it is rather disquieting to see what APPEARS to be evidence of shady practice by the owners.

tedgale, lovertravel only has four posts, three of them recommending this apartment. I'm not saying it's definitely an ad, but it makes you wonder.

Yes, I know. I was proceeding cautiously but I am sure you are right.

1. For one thing, Lovertravel says he/ she found the place through tripadvisor yet there are no tripadvisor reviews before mid-October 2008.

2. Lovertravel says he/ she posted a review but I do not see any review under that name. Could have used another name of course...But in terms of timing, the only poster who fits the timelines posted from Asia.

3. Lovertravel posts at times that suggests he/ she lives in Europe -- 2 am EST for example. So I'm guessing Lovertravel is in Italy.

4. Finally and most important, why would anyone post a B&B recommendation on a thread that's about choosing between 2 specific rental apartments??? Obviously: he/ she has a hidden agenda.

I've written to the editors and they will have the final say.
