Opinion on Italy trip Itinerary
I'm leaving on June 16th from Toronto. Flying to Gatwick and then taking a flight on Easyjet from Gatwick to Milan. Renting a car in Milan, driving to Lake Como for 3 nights. Then, driving to Venice (2 nights), Tuscany (3 nights) and Florence (3 Nights.) Then flying via Meridiana Airlines from Florence to Gatwick and staying in London for 3 nights before flying back home.
Any tips from anyone on this itinerary.
How easy/difficult will it be to navigate by car. We are dropping our car off when we arrive in Florence.
Will be traveling with my husband and 2 boys (14 and 11).
Thanks for any help.
I'll send a trip report when I come home.

Great itinerary and you won't have anymore problems navigating this route than you would one in Quebec. Very well marked main roads and autoroutes, though the latter can be outrageously expensive but they are infinitely quicker.

I think you've thought this one out quite well. As long as you know not to drive into Florence then it looks wonderful to me. The car park at Venice is super easy to figure out and if you get REALLY good directions and you're a confident navigator, you can drive to Florence train station and park in their lot for 3 days, otherwise I'd suggest you find something on the outskirts and taxi in to your accomodations. You're going to have a memorable time...I just know it! (we just got back from Florence, Tuscany, Cinque Terre and I'm about ready to go again already!)

Hi Bock - My suggestion would be to cut your car rental until you leave Venice.
You don't really need a car on Lake Como - it's much more fun getting around by ferry.
And you will be paying for an unused car in a parking space in Venice.

Thanks for your thoughts and suggestions. I've thought about the car alot. It's only costing us $500. CDN. I'd really like to do the drive from Como to Venice. As it stands, we'll only be using the car for about 7 days.
