Just for the record (and I'll be printing this URL for myself), the catalog of French items I get is:
French Inspirations
10815 Beaver Dam Rd, Suite F
Hunt Valley, MD 21030

The catalog is free (I don't know how I got it, some mailing list), so you might want to request it by calling 800-440-1777
Shipping prices are the usual, based on purchase total ($5 under $30, $7 for $30-50, etc). They do have some real cute and unusual items in there, some cheap, some very expensive. The stuff would fall into the gift category, mostly, but they have table linens, cutlery, wine racks, clocks, china, wine glasses, etc. As far as food goes, they have some chocolates and condiments and cookies, some things like that.

There are two catalogs I get that are great. Both have websites.

www.frenchcountry.com
This has great stuff but the website is currently under construction. They never had all the items in the catalog on their website either. Perhaps they're updating their website so they can offer the whole catalog online. The website has an 800 number posted where you can call for a catalog.

The other is Rue De France

The website has about 1/2 the items they offer in their catalog. You can request a catalog online through their website.

Good luck!

Thanks, Sue. I was eavesdropping and then tried a bunch of searches, coming up empty every time. What key phrase finally brought it to the top for you?
I'm going to copy the whole thing. But while we're on the subject, what about the cost of shipping?

I just remembered that I can contribute one website, if we'd care to expand this thread to include other countries: It's

http://www.heimatwerk.ch/

the site of the wonderful Swiss crafts organization. You may have visited one of their places in Zurich or the small one at the flughafen.

Anyone else? Greece? Italy? Germany? It really would be smart of us to begin our Christmas shopping now, wouldn't it?

My last post was unintentionally ambiguous; I did not order from these places--I tried them as key words to find the original post. I would imagine that the shipping costs are "substantial"; they are high enough here in US with "domestic" catalogue shopping, IMO. Most of the French products I've bought online go thru a US dealer, etc.

I did, however, order leather gloves from the Madova factory (after returning home and wishing I had bought more) in Florence, and the shipping was included in the quoted price. I think the site is www.madova.com Their small, busy shop is at "Pitti Palace side" of Ponte Vecchio, just at end of bridge. Lovely, reasonably-priced gloves.
