I'm short, short-waisted, and plump primarily around my middle -- and I cannot STAND anything cinched around my wait. If I wear pants, it's always drawstring (because you can often distribute the gathers where you want them), but my indispensible is a black suede-type microfiber jumper. On long plane rides, it doesn't cut in and cut off circulation, looks less casual than pants, is comfy to snooze in, and works well with jackets, scarves, etc. for dress up (fancy blouse) or dress down (t-shirt).
