ONE MORE TIME, GETTING DESPERATE FOR OSLO HOTEL HELP!!!
We are going to Oslo for 2 days on May 7 and May 8. We are going with another couple and need a hotel for those 2 nights. Everything reasonable is gone or just not available. Maybe it's because we aren't staying over a Saturday night or maybe May is just incredibly busy in Oslo. We don't want to spend more then $200.00 (with taxes & fees) a night and the only places that look in our price range are at Gardemoen airport. So my question is, I know there is a train that goes from the airport to the city center in about 20 - 30 mins. Is it accessible from the surrounding airport hotels or is it a hassle to get to? And is it expensive? Do you have to get into the airport to access it? And finally, in one of your knowledgable opinions, is it worth the savings or will it kill our trip? We want to spend those 2 days seeing Oslo, but I'm hesitant to stay in a ski area outside of Oslo, because I don't know how the public transportation is, and we won't have a car, and that seems to be the only other option I'm seeing! Thank you in advance for any helpful advice.

Oslo is very expensive. If you plan to spend all of your time sightseeing (and not in your room) then go with one of the cheaper B&BS, or stay in a smaller town outside of Oslo (but then you will have transportation issues), or spend more to stay in Oslo. We spent more than $400 per night in Oslo, and it wasn't that great.

Here is where we stayed:

The private ensuite rooms are actually student accommodations, so it's more of a student residence than a hostel. There is a fridge in the room, which can help you save money. The breakfast is also a good deal.
It's a convenient neighborhood, although not the nicest, but we found it fine.
The Best Western Anker is also at this location and might be an OK deal.
