one day in zurich..

Hi everyone..
With a friend group of mine we will be in Laax for snowboarding and on our way back to Turkey we will stay in Zurich for only one night. Is there anyone who can suggest a cheap but clean and comfortable hotel for us? I also would appreciate any suggestions on what to do, where to to eat and where to go at night on a Saturday night on March in Zurich..

I stayed at Hotel Leoneck in May 03. It was clean and quite convenient (located up on a hill behind the train station).

FYI, you can get a better deal if you book via the Zurich tourism website:
http://www.zuerich.com

I did that and was able to score a lower room rate and free breakfast.

I'm planning one night in Zurich as well for an upcoming trip and based on a lot of suggestions, intend to book our night at Hotel Adler. Seems to be in a central location which is key to us since we want to explore as much as we can in one day, and I've only heard positive things on this board and others. Good luck!

I've overnighted in Zurich a couple of times on the way back to the US from ski trips. Although I don't think of it as much of a "destination" city, there's more than enough to do for the amount of time you'll be there. I'm guessing you'll enjoy the younger evening crowd on the opposite side of the Limmat from the main part of town. There's a Spanish restaurant over there with great tapas. In the main part, Bierhalle Kropf is very nice - real old world feeling with dark woodwork and painted murals on walls and ceiling.

We also stayed at Hotel Leoneck, Oct 2003. Had a twin room for 185 chf, larger than most rooms we've had in Europe. The 'free' breakfast is:
one roll, one coffee. no jam, no butter, no nothing else. I have no complaints about the hotel.

Next visit, I am thinking of trying this hotel:
Hotel Arlette
26 Stampfenbachstrasse
www.hotels.de 150-175chf/ twin

Other inexpensive alternatives:
<>Alexander Guest House/Hotel

<>Martahouse Guesthouse
