One day in the Loire Valley

If you had just one day to visit the Loire Valley, what would you do? We will be taking the train from Paris and arriving in Tours at 9am and renting a car. We plan on visiting Chenonceau first thing...then, will we have time to see anything else? If so, what do you recommend? We will be spending the night in Amboise.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I am doing the same thing - an overnight trip to Amboise mainly to see Chenonceau. I cant recommend, but I can tell you what I am planning from my research: Chenonceau, Chateau D'Amboise, Le Close Luc and I thought I'd hike over to the Pagode De Chanteloup (2 km south of Amboise). In addition to exploring Amboise itself of course. I think this will fill my day to the gills no problem.

Hope that gives you some ideas anyway...

I need to read more carefully, I just noticed your renting a car - well this will open thing up alot - all of my above suggestions are in Amboise alone...

You could drive over to Chinon. It's a wonderful small town with an ancient ruined castle that Henry II used as his "home base" while in France from England. Also has tie to Joan of Arc, plus Chinon is a nice little town to wonder around.

Chenonceau is considered the number one must see.
