One day in Provence--recommendations?

We will be staying in Antibes for 4.5 days next week. We are thinking of taking one day for a driving trip to somewhere in Provence. I realize this is an unfair question, but what would you recommend?

Thanks very much,

Len

What will you be visiting while staying in Antibes? You could take the train to Nice, Villefranche-sur-Mer, Cannes, Monaco. Or do you mean western Provence? If so, in just one day you could drive over to Aix-en-Provence or Avignon as a day trip. However, keep in mind that one-day car rentals are extremely expensive; you could reach both cities by train.

Aix - or the Luberon (Gordes, Roussillon, Bonnieux, etc). But not Aix on Sunday or Monday.

Thanks very much for the helpful responses.

To elaborate, we spent a week in Seillans above the Riviera a number of years ago, during which we explored a number of areas in the Nice hinterland, etc. We are looking forward to returning to some of our old haunts and discovering some new ones while staying in Antibes. We also took a day trip to the Luberon with a stop for dinner in Aix before heading back to Seillans, both of which were great.

The specific purpose of this question was to ask about another possible day trip to (western) Provence. We will have a car already. As we went to the Luberon and got a quick taste of Aix on the previous trip, any other suggestion as a next choice if we wanted to do something different?

Thanks,

Len

Lourgues, le Thoronet Abbey, Cotignac, Entrecasteau, and Tourtour. This region is closer to Antibes than western Provence.
