One Day E-bike tour in Tuscany
Hi,
I am doing a little trip planning and did some searching but didn't see anything that really matched.
I am hoping to find a tour company that would do one day bike tours in southern Tuscany. Perferably one that uses e-bikes as our terrain in Illinois doesn't come close to Tuscany's.
We will be basing ourselves by Virtebo and will have a car. Thought it would be fun to do a bike day and possibly stop at 2 winerys along the way.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Do you mean Viterbo? If so, that's too far from all but the most southern part of Tuscany. Which is not to say there aren't interesting and scenic areas in far-south Tuscany, but it would be a long time on a bike, even an e-bike... 4+ hours round-trip to the Sorano/Sovana/Pitigliano/Saturnia area not counting time for lunch, rest stops, exploring towns, etc.
Quite a few bike tours start from Florence, but you might find some out of Siena. But then you'd have to drive to Siena, which is about 2 hours from Viterbo. Consider looking for tours out of Orvieto which is about an hour from Viterbo.
Check viator.com.
One thing a friend learned the hard way: Make sure you have good travel insurance that includes medical evacuation. He was on a Vespa tour, took a tumble, got a TBI and facial fractures, and had to be transported to a hospital in Rome.

Interesting question, I have cycled over Tuscany sans-e but at least I know the hills and valleys. I would want to be cycling in the area around Siena as well. While Siena is on a steep hill top it is possible to use the valley roads as local drivers are very sensible. There are also "white roads" which are gravel roads which the tours might use and almost devoid of motorised traffic. I don't normally wear a bike helmet but I would with these things. I'm not sure on Italian legislation but you don't want a too fast one as they can be over powered and under braked.
I think you need to google a bit especially given covid business restructuring. Google offers a lot of choice like Siena Bike Tour they recommend four routes Eroica and the Via Francigena, the Lauretana and the Cassia. Some of these are ridge roads with low levels of traffic, some of them are very famous locally.
