On My Way to Italy tonite - and Austria
Leaving tonite from Chicago for a trip to Austria and Italy. I got FF tickets on Swiss Air so we are traveling in and out of Zurich. Its me, my DH, and our 12 yo son. (my stepson). Second trip to Italy for DH and me. We did Tuscany, Cinque Terre, and Amalfi Coast in 2004.
DH is a classical music afficionado and wanted to see Salzburg. Will spend 3 days there. Then onto Venice for 4 days. (The part I am really looking forward too..)
DH loved the Cinque Terre and wanted to go back with DS and hike the trails so we are spending a few nites there and then headed back to Zurich with a stop in Lake Como for two nights.
We are driving - DH loves to drive in general and especially in Europe. It will be interesting as this is more jumping around that we have done in the past but I think we will somehow manage to get through it.
Staying at Hotel Elefant in Salzburg, Pensionne Accademia in Venice, Villa Steno in Monterosso, and Hotel Grand Mennagio in Mennagio.
Thanks to all fodorites for all helpful posts - especially my recent one about what to drink in Venice. I knew I could count on you all to make sure I imbibe properly and well. A spritz it will be...
Bye for now.
