Oliver Reed-Buried in Mallow,Cork

Thought you movie fans might be interested in this article i just read. I just read in the Irish Times that actor Oliver Reed died suddenly at 61 in a bar (where else) in Malta (?) and was buried in Mallow, Co. Cork under a beech tree near O' Brien's pub. 500 people attended his funeral, which must have amused the locals, and repaired with much festivity to a marquis all night celebration at Mc Carthy Castle which was his home of 8 years.Does anyone know where this castle is? I hope they open it to the public or make a hotel/B&B out of it.

Hey Maeve, I'm an Oliver Reed fan, too! I don't know where the castle is, but I bet the tourist office (022-42222) would. <BR>I think he died at Mala, which is the other name for Mallow. He hadn't even had a drink yet the day he died.

Oliver Reed's funeral was held in Churchtown, Co. Cork - not Mallow. (Although I suppose Mallow would be the nearest large town to Churchtown). The "Castle" in Churchtown was his home prior for the last few years. Churchtown is a bit off the beaten path to put it likely (I have a friend who has family there, so I think it's unlikely that the place would be turned into a B&B, as there is virtually no tourism in that part of Cork.
