Oktoberfest

Travel advisory on Germany:
http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_p...a/pa_3241.html

If you want to listen to what this young long haired freak is saying:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=juQpyLnttKQ

His basics are:
- After the German election on Sunday
- Oktoberfest

I'm not going there anyway...

I would think as usual in these types of threats that being at Oktoberfest now may be the safest place in all of Germany to be

These "threads" are boring.........

A professional AQ would have blown up the Oktoberfest, Nuremberg Xmas Market, Rock concerts - you name it.

It's as safe as it can be.

I was at Oktoberfest on September 23. Glad I didn't know about the threats then. We had a beautiful warm sunny day. I went for the chocolate covered strawberries.

Tons of police at Oktoberfest for the whole week.
Prepare to be searched when entering (cars and people).
Don't let them damage your car with those mirrors on sticks.

It's just part of the fun!
Smile and try not to look "foreign"

Was just there this weekend. The police were out and about, but no more than you would expect for normal crowd control. Saw a few bags being searched at random, but nothing too formal.

You never know what is going on behind the scenes, but the visible security measures weren't really anything more than you would see at a sports match. In some ways, I was a bit surprised at how invisible the security really was.

Enjoy.
