I think Amelie is awesome. It's definitely one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. Moulin Rouge would qualify as well, even though the scenes of Paris are mostly atmospheric.

Hi,all~we also saw Brotherhood of the
Wolf, and really enjoyed it.It was the top movie in France! Mary,I loved Ronin, it was on cable not long ago and I watched it again, and enjoyed it just as much as the first time.I loved the car chase in Nice..although the tunnel was pretty good also~tried to find my husband a leather jacket like the one DeNiro wore..couldn't find one-oh well, perhaps I can find one in Paris~careful, not to start a leather jacket shopping thread..:0)
Cigalachante (LOVE that name - or rather e-mail version of your name), even more great additions to this thread. Must add to my growing list. : )

Oh Capo, Ronin really was a fantastic movie. My sister and I enjoyed it for the Paris/Nice scenes (and that was truly a 1st-rate car chase) and of course my brother-in-law loved it as well. Such a great spy flick;so well made;so much tension!!! And I would also love to watch Frantic - thank you for your other suggestions as well.

Carmen, you enjoyed Amelie, too? It was a cute, funny movie, wasn't it? But I haven't seen Moulin Rouge yet. I will, though. Love Nicole Kidman AND Ewan McGregor!! Ewan is yummy.

Hi C! Trying to appropriate this thread for your own "leather jacket shopping" needs I see? Hmmm!!! ; ) Careful, you might get too "clubby".
I don't think anyone mentioned the Bourne Identity yet. Saw it recently and was very busy location guessing. Much of the film was shot in Paris and I got those "Paris pangs", again.

Hey Leslie, I just saw The Bourne Identity a couple of weeks ago and just came across this old thread. Those Paris car chase scenes next to the Seine were pretty good. I agree with you-seeing those Parisian landmarks and those street scenes makes me wish I were in Paris.

Did anyone else notice the word "Police" witten on the sides of those "french" police cars that were chasing those two? So,do you really believe it was all filmed in Paris?

Marie, before you try to be so smart, you need to check facts. For one, if you check the Eyewitness Paris guidebook, there is a picture of a Parisian police car blatantly emblazoned with the word "POLICE" on its side.

On Jeanne's thread The Bourne Identity was mentioned. But yeah, I got those Paris pangs, too. I'm thinking one of the street scenes was in the 7th, Ave. de la Motte Piquet maybe??

The Bourne Identity shows a lot of Pont Neuf, Sumartan department store(spelling?) from Pont Neuf, St Germain...Just watched on DVD The Affair of the Necklace...lots of scenes at Versailles.

Re: The Bourne Identity the small hotel the two main characters stayed at in Paris appears to be Hotel de la Paix on Blvd. Raspail in the 14th dist.

hi, mary!

Until September starred Karen Allen and Thierry Lhermitte (lately of The Dinner Game). i found myself trying to track down the various locations using a paris telephone directory at my local library after i saw it several years ago. karen allen's character stayed at what turned out to be the Hotel du Bois on the rue du Dome (i think).

also, i'd recommend When the Cat's Away which takes place near the Bastille area, with scenes on the trendy rue Oberkampf neighborhood in the 11th arr. this is the film that made Pause Cafe a tourist atraction...
