oia accommodations

OK, we've narrowed it down to two places. Either the Lava Oia's or an individually owned cave house. The cave house is said to be right by Katikies. Any feedback as far as that location vs. Lava Oia's. The price is basically the same but the cave house has AC and the Lava Oia's doesn't. Not that matters that much. Any time I've been to Oia I haven't missed it really, only if there was a heat wave but we'll be there the first week fo June so we should be safe.

I couldn't determine exactly where it is, although I know I've seen it.

This is from their website:

"LAVA OIA'S is situated on Oia's caldera, next to the main car road, a short walking distance from village services and center and yet in a quiet area"

This tells me that it's near to the Katikies property that used to be the Atlantis Villas, out of the center of Oia, south toward the little 'suburb' village of Finikia, before the road forks in front of the church of St. George. How far south I can't say for sure, but I'm guessing close to the old windmill. Does this help?

I just realized that I spent my time trying to pinpoint the location of the Lava Oia's. What I really meant to say is it looks like they're both in the same general area, and upon further reflection I realize that you might not know that there are 3 Katikies properties with the one furthest out being the old Atlantis Villas. There is also one fairly close to the church of St. George and the Delfini, so I can't be certain which one the cave house is closest to. Let's just say it's between the old windmill on the south end of Oia and the Katikies property near to the north side of the church.

Thanks so much brotherleelove! I appreciate the info. As you said, it sounds like they are both in the same general area. I think we'll probably go with Lava Oia's only because I've seen a positive review on them and on the owner. She's really worked with us on the price.

I hope it's everything you want. I did find one comment about how many steps (50, I think) down the cliff it is. I hope you're in good shape!
