october trip- 5-6 days, either alsace/puglia or emilio-romagna
good afternoon! we are going to a wedding in bordeaux in october. we are planning where to spend 5-6 days beforehand, and it may come down to logistics re flights from north america, flight times, and flights to bordeaux. we have narrowed it down to
1. puglia (arrive rome, drive to puglia via area near naples to see buffalo mozzarella farm)- see matera, lecce, towns near central puglia, fly to bordeaux from bari) This is most appealing trip re things to see and do, but logistically more driving time, worse flights, some wasted time - the first day (taking flight times and driving times into account) will just get us to our first destination late afternoon, flight time to bordeaux either mean very early flight to rome with a connector to bordeaux, or 5 pm flight the day before we need to be in bordeaux but direct (losing an evening in puglia and gaining a day in bordeaux that we don't really need)
2. alsace: arrive frankfurt, drive to strasbourg, spend the 6 days in the region. direct flight to bordeaux. easiest itinerary, least wasted time in car/airports etc, but least appealing itinerary to us after reading what to do in the region.
3. emilio romagna: arrive venice. spend time from parma in the west, driving east and finishing near venice. (not see venice as have all been before). direct flight venice to bordeaux
itinerary appealing though a bit less so than puglia, but better logistics than puglia
appreciate your thoughts!
we are 2 people in early sixties, and 3 people late 20's. We like to be very active and busy sightseeing and exploring. We will be a bit bored if just pretty scenery and sitting having coffees at cafes, and one or 2 vineyards will be enough.
