Florence to Reggio Emilio

My husband and I are interested to take a day-trip to Reggio Emilio when we're in Florence in June. The only direction I can seem to find is taking a train from Florence to Parma. And then Reggio Emillio is about 30-min East from Parma. Does anyone have any info about public transportation (bus/train) from Parma that can take me to Reggio Emillio? Thanks so much!!

Are you referring to Reggio Emilia (Reggio Nell'Emilia)?
It is an easy trip from Firenze either by a direct IC train (one in the morning) or frequent ES trains via Bologna.

For train schedules, look at:

www.bahn.de or www.trenitalia.com

Yes, I believe that's the location. Do you know if it's possible for us to get there by 8AM (from Florence), I think you mentioned there is one in the morning? Thanks!!

(I should have explained that we're trying to fit in a tour of cheese making facility, which starts at 8AM. Is there a train early enough from Florence that can get us to R.E by 8AM? Or, should we try to get there the night before?).

Looks like there's a train at 4:35 in the morning that would get you there at about 7:30AM--and you might have to change twice! otherwise the next train is just after 7:00 and doesn't arrive until almost 9:30AM.

All trains from Florence require a change in Bologna, so you might try going to Bologna (if not Reggio Emilia) the night before. From Bologna it's only 35-45 minutes and there are frequent departures . . .

Ellenem, thanks for checking this. I tried using the website, and couldn't pull the right info (rookie error!).
