October Honeymoon: Calabria/Sicily vs. Andalucia?

We are getting married on the Amalfi Coast and were planning on honeymooning in Andalucia, but now we might be thinking it would be easier and cheaper to stay in the same country??? What do you think?

Since we have been to Florence, Tuscany, Venice, and Liguria, we were thinking something like Calabria or Sicily? How do they compare to Andalucia? And, where would you suggest for the best honeymoon with culture and beautiful beaches for swimming in mid-October?

THANKS!!!

I can't speak to Andalucia, but I can speak to Southern Italy. I was in Calabria in mid-September this year. Some days were warm enough for the beach, most were too windy for it. I think in mid-October it will be hard to find a beach vacation in Europe.

How many days will you have? I think a nice honeymoon might start out in Sorrento, you could then drive down to Maratea for a few nights, then head to Tropea which looks to be a nice beach area in Calabria (which I hope to go to this summer). Then drive to Villa ?? (I can't remember the name, it's the port in Calabria where you can take the ferry to Sicily). You will dock in Messina, I would then spend time in Taormina.

Stay in Italy--Maratea and Taormina are great suggestions. Do not expect hot weather in Oct. Also, consider going to Malta if you do Sicily.

Bob.T.N., We are also thinking of going to Malta for a few days, then spending 4 nights in Sicily(perhaps 2 each in Taormina and Siracusa), then back to Malta for a day or so. Any suggestions about the best way (plane or ferry)to travel between Malta and Sicily (as far as frequency, price, ease of connection, etc.)? Any other thoughts or comments about Sicily or Malta would be appreciated. Thanx.
