Serge...the tone of your responses really border on rude. I hope that is not your intention.

Joan...it is all sounding c'est délicieux ! So looking forward to Thanksgiving- sounds like it is all coming together!!! Very exciting news for the Christmas visitors. Interesting about the Ritz also. I hope that the Crillion and The Ritz still maintain their elegance!!

Can't wait to meet Florent and Michael!

Waiting to hear more! Have fun!

Serge,

For whatever it is worth, I drink very little wine. 2 glasses in an evening is probably it for me! My French friends seem to consume much more!

a bientot...

Wonder what the comment was that was removed, per above note?? I would not think that we would have any nasties on the thread as it is intended for only those who are interested in following or contributing to it in a positive way!

Sue, No celeb spotting..but have not really been looking for them..never know..maybe at the Crillon tomorrow!

Lilia, Florent and Michael will be joining us at l'Obe on 12/11...

We 3 are also planning dinner at Casse Noix..have not selected the date yet.

a bientot...

I am enjoying your posts so keep them coming. Have a questions about some of the restaurants you have been going to....the menus seem heavy on meats. W e would love to try them all but we do not eat red meat or pork and would not want to eat chicken every day as that is our go to meal when we want to eat in....a roast chicken from Rue Cler. Would we have a difficult choice with the menus unless there is fish which we love. any suggestions?
Merci

Just returned from Cafe Constant wih Michael/Florent. We had a great lunch and I did take pics and we even had some taken of us!!

Something I did not know before and it may be recent...they stop serving the main lunch menu aat 2:30 but hve a more limited menu from 2:30 to 5:00. We saw it and were very plesed with what we saw..musch quieter at that time, too!!

Cornelius..definitely need not to think that you would only find checken to eat when you do not eat red meat. Friends all know me as not eating things that walk on 4 legs!! I had a heart attack 10 years ago and knew nothing about reading lables..I did easily remember that if it walks on 4 legs, do not eat it! We have some fun times about it!

We have not set a date for dinner at casse Noix...

will post pics soon...

a bientot..

Joan,

I am truly enjoying your trip report and all of the wonderful pictures. I am excited about Violin d' Ingres serving both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day Diner. I know you had previously said you would be happy to make reservations for us so could we trouble you to make a reservation for us for Christmas Day Dinner at Violin d'Ingres. We are not picky and whatever time is available would work for us. We are at an apartment in the 15th so so problem getting there whenever they can take us. Just me and my husband.

If so thank you so much for your trouble. You are very kind.

Irock, I have sent your info on to Catherine and you can get together re your reservation. You will not hear from her before Monday as they go out of town to their place for the weekends.

Off to l'Obe tomorrow..always a joy!! I will maybe get some updates as to their building schedule and when/if they will be closed for a period of time!

Denise is right. Joan is a legend on this forum and she has graciously agreed to an audience with me over dinner at Le Florimond next Friday and at lunch at the Ritz Bar Vendome on Saturday.

Hi Lisa.

Re suitcases...get the new polycarbonate(or whatever it is called) one and with 'spinner' wheels. They are great!!

That is what I recently bought and they are great. I especially like the laptop one..really nice...mine is a Deys, I think is the brand...

a bientot,

I thought I had responded to weekender's post, but do not see it!

He is someplace in the world most every weekend. Hard to keep up with him. I was glad when he said he was coming to Paris when I was here. We have missed one another the last couple of trips. We have a lot of catching up to do..that is why the carry over to Bar Vendome on Saturday!! We will try to get the latest information re their closing etc next year. I did hear something bad to do with their employees..but will try to find out more.

Good evening, Joan. Not telling what wonderful place you'e off to tonight! I can't wait to hear about it.

We will be arriving in Paris in a couple of weeks (Nov 4th) for 5 nights. Will be in the Beaume de Venise apartment. We plan to eat in some...never done the apartment thing before.

I would love to take advantage of your "reservation services", but I don't know what nights we will be eating out. These restaurants, however, are definitely on my list:

Le Florimond (a past favorite)
Cafe Constant
**L'os a Moelle
**Casse Noix
Flirt The for breakfast

**both of these sound amazing. Do you have address/phone numbers for them, please?

Do you know what time Flirt opens? Are you an early riser? I do get up early....might I perhaps see you there?

JeanneB,
Why don't you email me at the adddress in above message. I will be at Florimond on the 28 and have another reservation to make while there. I could do one for you, too. I can call Schmidt l'os a moelle...the name has changed with the Schmidt being the primary name..Stephane has it in much larger print on his cards! He will need a name and phone number if you have one and always should re-confirm upon arrival. Here i Casse-Noix website: http://www.le-cassenoix.fr/ I could call them, too. Cafe Constant and Les Cocottes do not take reservations. Flirt The is open early..I will ask Florent what time. email me, please...I could meet you there for breakfast...not far for you from your apt....

a bientot..

I am composing an email to you.

Meanwhile, I'll ask you something I've been meaning to look into for a long time....and which might be helpful to others.

I would love to find some good audio guides for Paris landmarks. Maybe even some neighborhood walks. I saw a post not long ago where someone had supposedly created mp3-playable audio. But when I go to the sites, there's nothing more than an audio file. No way to download them. It would be ideal to simply put all the relevant ones on my mp3 and pull it out if I find myself somewhere I want to use it.

Do you know which, if any, landmarks have good audio guides? Or anything at all like what I described for mp3? If not, I think I'll start a separate thread.
