Ocean close to Milan

Which are the nice beaches close to Milan???

We're in Milan right now and I would like to plan some nice weekend trips to the sea.
Ideas????
Up to 3/4 hours drive it's fine!

THANKS.

Have you taken the time to look at a map?

Head to the Portofino area. It's only 2 hours or so.

One wonders how Intrepid1 thinks that the quality of beaches is revelaed on a map.

I recommend the overview shown at

http://www.blumenriviera.com/Italy/I...iguria/Beaches

Best wishes,

Rex

I have.... the thing is that I have no idea which ones are the nice ones...
Will I fnd a B&B in every little city by the sea listed on the map???
Maybe with some Italian input will be easier....

Chanda - The area around the Portofino peninsular is very scenic - but it's not renowned for beaches. Paraggi has a small one which gets very busy. Rapallo has an artificial one (- imported sand). SML has a small area too - nothing special if I remember.

I think you may need to go further. Your best bets might be Alassio and Monterosso IMO.
