Tried to read your latest entry but gave up. Please use paragraph breaks . . .

unfortunately Fodors changes the entries. I just edited the whole entry to recreate paragraphs that were in the original text.

Thanks, I am debating whether to return to Sicily this May. I would be traveling solo (was with family on my prior visit), so it's good to read your impressions.

I was in Torino last summer and really enjoyed it. Looking forward to reading about Montforte d’Alba.

You sound a lot more organized than I.

Are the buses to Monreale still full of pickpockets? Thanks for writing. Enjoy your return.

Am really not sure about pickpockets didn't encounter any that I knew of. This trip report is misnamed I did go to Monforte d'Alba to visit my daughter for Christmas.
The area is gorgeous but decided not to write about my visit.

I and family members took that bus to and from Monreale but our pockets weren't picked, thank goodness, so therefore not sure if any pickpockets were present on our rides either.

No bother about Monforte d'Alba; I just enjoyed what little I saw of Piemonte so had a bit of curiosity.

Thanks so much for posting your account of Palermo [with the paragraphs] - I really enjoyed your post. I have been thinking about Palermo for a while - would a week be too long? it seems that Monreale requires a day and there is a lot more to see too.

Wonderful TR, Nywoman!

My DH and I were "adopted" by a cab driver in Palermo. At that time, three different bus services had 3 different means of buying a ticket. One from the driver, one from a nearby ticket office, and one from the office at the main train station! Your experience reminded me of that.

The puzzling bit to me, TD, is why you would expect them to be the same! Seriously I had a similar experience in Venice this year. I had decided that I would get the alilaguna water bus back from Venice to the airport so i needed a ticket. I knew that you could get them from the regular ticket offices which are at the bigger vaporetto stops around Venice [the Rialto, San Marco, Piazzale Roma] but I was at the train station so I knew I could buy it from one of the many ticket kiosks alongside the vaporetto stops just outside. Wrong. They have decided to make you go to the ticket office inside the station opposite Platform 2. Only in Italy.

"The puzzling bit to me, TD, is why you would expect them to be the same" LOL. DH and I were used to buying a metro ticket at the tobacco store! But now that you have made me think (darn you), I'm remembering there were 2 bus companies for long trips; Trailways and Greyhound. One had to go to their separate ticket offices if I recall. Sighing still for bella Italia.
