Nymphenburg in February
Just found out that my husband and I will be going to Munich the beginning of February. I've just started to do some planning and think that Nymphenburg looks interesting. My question is, is it worth seeing in the dead of winter when the grounds will be under snow? From what I've read, it seems that there's a lot to do there even if we don't want to be outside. Thanks for your input!

Most of the grounds are forested (un parc à la française), and could be enjoyable under snow. But the interiors of the Nymphenburg and the Amalienburg are what you really want to see.

The front grounds usually have the requisite flowers in season but other than that they are basically park-like with the usual "water features' etc. The interior will be more memorable and yes, IMO, it is worth it as is the Residenze closer to the center of the city.

Great! I just wanted to be reassured. Thanks for your advice! And if you have any other suggestions for "must see" activities, I'd love to hear them. I love looking at churches and other beautiful buildings. Also really enjoy tours - being told the history of what I'm seeing.
Thanks again!
Thanks again!

We were there this past summer and it drizzled rain all day. The gardens were not particularly interesting but be sure to see all the "little" houses/follies spead out around the grounds. They are incredible. Also the coach museum was very good.

The coach museum was fascinating with lots of Cinderella coaches. Lots of other interesing places to go and see in Munich too. Deuthches Museum, Residence, Alte and Neues Piakotek, BMW Museum, Dachau, Frauenkirche, Alte Peter Kirche, and more. On top of that you will be there during Fashing (Mardi Gras) and you can have some fun and interesting times in Schwabing.
