NYC or Philadelphia GTG

Does anyone want to have one? We had one in NYC in November (I think) 2001, and it was pleasant. I think we talked about having another in the spring, but then we never followed up. Is there any interest in one in either NYC or Philadelphia? Winter is usually a good time in the cities.

I live outside Phila., and would be interested. Met 2 Fodorites in Paris last year and really enjoyed it.

I'm interested (NYC) if it's well after the holidays, perhaps MLK or Presidents' weekend if that's a good time for people to gather and travel.
Maybe a Saturday lunch or Sunday brunch?

Elaine: Are you the same Elaine who did all the work organizing our last one?

Elberko: could you come to NYC?

I'm closer to Philadelphia, but becaue the train to Phila. is SO local, it is actually a little easier for me to go to NYC. So I don't care if it's in NYC or Philadelphia.

I'd consider traveling to NYC.

Maybe we can keep it really simple, so it will not require too many weeks of planning.

Yes, I organized the last one and am happy to have someone else organize the next one.

Do you think we might do something really simple, like meet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art at a certain time, and wing it for lunch?

If you want to, you can use the e-mail address shown (I hope it's shown) to make suggestions re when/where. The easiest thing might be to meet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC on the Saturday or Sunday before M L King Day (I think someone suggested that weekend) and hope for the best re lunch, without making reservations in advance. A "safer" way to do it would be to have lunch reservations somewhere, but that requires a lot of planning. I don't know enough about restaurants in NYC to suggest where.

If you want to, e-mail [email protected] with suggestions, expressions of interest, etc. If anyone else would like access to the e-mail box, I can give you the password. It's not a private one.

I might have an interest in traveling to either location (have a brother in Morristown, NJ); March would be better for me, I think.

Best wishes,

Rex

As an alternative date that could include rex, how about Sat or Sun March 20 or 21?
If people prefer the holiday weekend, MLK weekend works for me but not Saturday.
Also, having recently tried to organize a Saturday lunch here in NYC for local friends, not as many places serve lunch on Saturday (I'm not saying "None", just fewer) and I don't know if a group of say, 10 or more, can just walk in somewhere and find one table to sit at.

But on the other hand, I'm not in charge.

I"ll email my suggestions to the suggested address

Whoever IS in charge, you can organize this and send out invitations on
evite.com if you like, but you need everyone's email address
You can invite people to write to you directly to provide their addresses, if people don't want to post them here

I'd be interested in either (99 percent sure I'd go to Philadelphia, about 50 percent sure I'd make one in NYC).

I guess there's no interest?
But if there is, please keep this thread topped.

Flattered by the suggestion to postpone until March for my benefit... but i must say that i could not sure that it would work for me, regardless of when you plan it, in March OR April. Right now, I am quite sure that I would not be able to come any time in Jan, Feb or May.

But just to clarify... picking a date (or location) is NOT about me or my ability to attend.

Thanks for the thought all the same, Elaine.
