NWA Carry-on weight restrictions
Flying Northwest Detroit to CDG Thursday and I can find nothing on its site about weight restrictions for carry-on. Got the bag measurements and the liquid/gel stuff, but nothing about weight.
Am I missing it somewhere?

Hi MelJ, I just checked NWA website too and you are right. All information except for limitation on the weight of the carryon. Consequently I would assume that they are not requiring the carryon bag to be under a certain weight but if I were you I would call NWA just to verify this. Please post back if you find out for sure..thanks!

Thanks for verifying that it really isn't spelled out on the site! I'll try to call them tonight but if it takes more than 4 transfers and 10 minutes to get to a human being I'll take my chances at the gate with my 21"!

The brief answer to your question is: I don't know the specifics. But some background: it's best to check with customer service about baggage restrictions. It seems each airline has its own rules depending on destination and ticket class. Some are relying more on by-the-piece and/or dimension limits, but some also incorporate weight. A caution: restrictions can differ between trans-Atlantic and within-Europe routes.

The matter of fact is, as all of us have said again and again, no US airlines weigh anybody's carry-on. Has not happened. So, I don't see what else is there to know.
Now, if you're flying Air France or some other airline, that's another story. But not Northwest.

We flew from DTW-CDG last March and although they didn't weigh the carry on, they did make sure that it fit in the box that has the specifc measurements for carry ons.
Have a great time. Dh and I will be heading to Paris again on March 6th

Posting from Paris:
Nope, NW did not weigh our bags. In fact, since I printed our tickets out the night before and had nothing to check, we just went to the gate and boarded with our bags.
rkkwan: I have, indeed, had US airlines weigh my bags when going overseas. USAirways comes immediately to mind. This is why I asked about NW. Last time we traveled to CDG on them we checked bags so this question didn't arise.
Thanks, all. Back to having a wonderful time...

MelJ, were you allowed only one carry-on? We are traveling on NW to Milan this summer and I had read here on Fodor's that starting in March, only one carry-on (including a handbag or purse)is allowed until you go through customs. That means that a purse will need to fit inside the carry-on. Do you know anything about this? Interesting that weight is not mentioned on the website and that they did not weigh your carry-on.
Thanks and have a great time!

We departed on Feb 22, so I don't know how the carry-on limit will effect us when we return 3/9, but I have no problem checking for return flights.
I know that for the outward we were allowed one carry-on plus purse, laptop or briefcase, so I had my purse and DH had a backpack.
Have a terrific trip!
