Now that Chip and PIN is mandatory in the UK, how will American visitors be impacted?

Sue.
My visa was reissued in March and it has a chip. I did not notice it, but a clerk at a pub did. She swiped it, (it also has a stripe), and her machine said to insert it. It then spat out a reciept for me to sign.
I will have to look into this before September.
ps this is Victoria, BC

I imagine that Americans (or any other nationality) could be impacted by inserting them in some sort of squashing machine or something like a small car crusher. Why do you want to be impacted though!

Hi
I have gotten the new card with a chip here in Norway. Before when I paid for stuff I had to sign for it but when I went to Paris in April I had to enter my PIN code in many places and it worked out very well. But I assume that the old fashioned cards will still work for a while.
