That looks like a great location. We were there in April. Wonderful city. Just watch for the hills! Take advantage of the trams, both the historic and modern ones. Not sure about the elevators in the metros. This site mentions accessibility, and says some stations have lifts: http://www.metrolisboa.pt/eng/custom...accessibility/

Oh, and coincidentally, I'll be in Barcelona for about a week in mid-November. Perhaps I'll do a comparison of the two when I get back.

Hi PA_Kathy,

How was your trip to Lisbon? I'm planning a trip in December for the holidays. Any suggestions for restaurants and points of interest would be great!

I just noticed a few people asking about our trip. We had a wonderful time. Nine nights was ample time to hit the highlights - but we certainly could easily have stayed longer.

We especially liked the Tile Museum, Jerónimos Monastery, the Gulbenkian Museum, the Coach Museum. Our day trip to Sintra was a delight - could have spent longer there.

We used buses, trams and once, a taxi, to get around, and I had no trouble with the hills, so we ventured all over the city.

We're not "foodies" so I really have no restaurant recommendations - we ate at mostly small places, nothing fancy. DH was in heaven with all the fresh squid he ate.

People were exceptionally friendly, always trying to help us as we traveled around - even if we didn't need it!

Our hotel was central to transportation, had a great buffet breakfast at the terrace restaurant, so we often skipped lunch.

So we were well pleased with our decision to go to Lisbon, and look forward to a time we can see more of Portugal.
