Have you ever been in Norway, in August? <BR>We are going to the southern part of the country, camping. <BR>How is the weather in the second half of August? Any problem going to the north? (Lofoten islands) <BR>Any tip will be more than welcomed <BR>Ana

I camped in Norway for 2 weeks in Aug several years ago and it seemed kind of cold but was mostly pleasant. I remember wearing a winter jacket quite a bit of the time. We had some rain but not too much. We traveled the Oslo area and Bergen, Trondheim and went as far as Hell. We took ferries through lots of fjords. Didn't go any farther north than Hell, so can't help you there. I remember it being light till around midnight that time of year. It's a beautiful country and camping is definitely the way to go. Hi, <BR>The weather in Norway has not been very good in June and July this year, so we norwegians are hoping for a good August. <BR>You have no guarantees when it comes to the weather in Norway. <BR>Yesterday the temperatures in the south was about 17 - 20 degrees C, and in Kirkenes which is as far north/east you can get in Norway the temperatures where 32 degrees C!!!! <BR>Just make sure you bring a rain coat, warm sweater and a bathing suit. You will probably have use of all these items! <BR>Kaja

hi ana, lucky you.i was in norway last yr, july though. it was the hottest i,ve ever been in my life.i cant think that aug would be much different. lofoten is one of the most awesome sights i have seen, we took the ferry from Narvik,just mind blowing scenery, used the local buses to get around. stayed for around $30nz a night, in the rorbuor type places.from Svolvaer, stamsund,Aa, just incredible scenery, only time it rained was on the ferry from mosknes to bodo back to the mainland. enjoy your trip,cheers from lorrie

hi again, just to say , that we traveled the mainland od norway on a scanrail ticket, which was really good,we usually prebooked a seat for an extra $5nz but it was easy enough just to get on a train and hop seats.

Hi Ana, <BR>The prices of fuel are about 10 NOK pr. liter. You are allowed to camp for free in the nature in Norway, so you don't have to use any money on that. It is not considered unsafe to camp anywhere in Norway. <BR>There are som places you have to pay toll, in Oslo it is 12 NOK, and I think it is about the same in Bergen and Trondheim. There are some places you have to pay if you cross brifges and drive through tunnels. Those prices lies around 50 - 100 NOK. This is also the prices you have to pay for ferries. <BR>You should try different fish dishes while you are in Norway. At restaurants the prices can be anywhere between 80 - 300 NOK. A good tip: Buy fresh shrips from fishingboats. It is not expensive and it is extremly good!! <BR>Kaja
