Thanks so much for sharing! Very helpful, especially given the post I just did with questions about these areas! Incidentally, how can I search just for trip reports? I haven't been able to figure that out, but it would be great to have those all in one place! Funny- my kids also thought the bidet was for washing feet.

I always love reading trip reports about the Dolomites (and the other places you visited). So glad you enjoyed your time there. And seeing David Gilmour in Verona must have been amazing! Thanks for sharing your report and your great photos!

Thanks for your nice comments
....and especially jamikins and ms_go whose experiences helped my planning.
europhile, re the trip reports... I haven't worked that out yet...have used key words in my searches but I realise that you need to title your TR well (I should have added "Dolomites" in, as that's how I searched and found the excellent TR's that I referred to). Your trip sounds lovely, don't be put off the CT because of crowds, it is gorgeous. And we love mountains too, I found it exhilarating being in such an incredible landscape.
ozgirl, our leave requests did not go to plan, I got 4 weeks approved, hubby only 2 weeks, so Europe is not a contender

Hi Adelaidean, I know this report was from last year, but I'm wondering if you recall how chilly it was on some of your higher-altitude walks in the Dolomites. I am heading there in a couple of weeks, and other than my time in the mountains, the cities I visit will likely be very hot so I'm trying minimize what I pack.
Reading your report and looking at the beautiful photos from your trip inspired me to add several days in Ortisei (had been wavering). I only hope I luck out with sunshine like you did. Thanks so much for writing this!

Hi Leely, lucky you, it is a beautiful part of the world.
It was actually quite warm when we were there, we did walk in t shirts most of the time, had one thunderstorm and it was the only day we had not carried our rain jackets. Just huddled in a rifugio with all the other walkers, lots of fun and conviviality. Layers are the best, I am a light packer and still didn't need half of it.
I am sure you will have a wonderful time, I just feel so privileged to have been able to exerience such beauty.
Thankfully we are off to Switzerland in September, all that grief over getting annual leave to coincide with my husband left me a bit frustrated....

Hi Adelaidean, I just discovered this trip report— just lovely!
I am interested in your thoughts on your AirBnB in Verona. I came across it recently — could you stay there for a month and make it “home”?
We would like to stay in Northern Italy but I’m having a difficult time finding an apartment. Verona looks like a nice size city with a pedestrian center, sights, restaurants — a good spot for us to “work from home” during the day and enjoy the town in the evening!

Hi lrice,
we loved it.
Great location, between station and historic centre, fantastic host that lived in the building, a really nice and modern apartment, 2 bed 2 bath, a balcony, spacious and comfortable.
No negatives.
I’d love to stay there longer.
