Car rental in azores

We are stopping in Ponta Delgada Azores on a cruise. We are interested in renting a car. Are there are rental agencies near the port? is there any sights you would recommend if we have just one day.

Hi
In Ponta Delgada I rented a car from autoeurope at the airport - unaware of city locations.
I visited Lagoa de Sete Cidades - extinct volcano with a lake and village in it's caldera.
Furnas - an area with fumaroles - if sensitive with volcano fumes / sulphur don't go there.
Terra Nostra gardens/ park.
In Ponta Delagada city I visited the church, the fort ( waterfront) and a lava tube ( small, not as long as the one in Hawaii).
If you prefer to use a guided tour azoresdreamtours and azoresprivatetours
I drove myself and not used the tours, so I'm not making any recommendations.
If you drive yourself be aware of the tight turns, narrows roads and above all watch out for the COWS!!!
they walk on the road as they walk from pasture to pasture.
Really scary when you round a blind turn and you came face to face with a bunch of cows on the road.
Happy travels

São Miguel is not a large island and depending on the size of your party, it may be that taking a taxi for the time you are onshore to show you round, may be more cost effective.

Thank you. There will be four in our party and we are considering both options

If one of you has to drive, you'll miss a lot of the scenery around you. Perhaps a driver would be better especially if you can find a six or seven seater MPV.
