No smoking law in Greece info!
The smoking ban came into force on the 1st July, in theory!! It is slowly being sorted out. There is a clause for premises under 70 sq metres (which is many of the cafenions/tavernas) that they can opt for a smoking or non-smoking license. This is slowly being sorted as the paperwork gets underway (all being done on 'Greek time!')
For those of you who want to seek or avoid the smoking establishments they will be displaying a sticker. The first ones have started appearing around here & I thought I would post a link to a picture of it as it is not immediately obvious what it is for, especially as I have not seen one in English at all!

I hope that's useful!!

It will be interesting to see how many places on the islands get this license! It necessary for them to get their act together here as nearly all of them are open all year round as it's a town with a mostly permanent population. May not be quite so important to places that have the majority of their season outside. Look forward to your findings!

The real crunch will come when it's too cold to sit outdoors. I understand that's why Greece moved the ban forward by six months. Frankly I don't expect much change on the islands this summer, but I'm curious to see what is happening at Athens Airport and on the ferries.
Conventional ferries will be all right, because smokers can stand on the outside deck. Will there be a rush to the small deck at the stern of the highspeeds? No one is supposed to go out on that deck while the catamaran is moving, but the rule is often ignored. I will report back.
