Nikko de Paris .....hotel
My husband an I are going to Paris for the first time this March. We have a room at the Nikko de Paris that we won. We have no idea what it's like or what part of the city it is in. We are hoping to find some information.....any and all.

Maybe not quaint (I've never laid eyes on it), but here's your basic hotel database entry:

http://condenast.hotelbook.com/stati...ome_04275.html

And based on my impression of the Nikko San Francisco, there are NO bad Nikko hotels.

We stayed there in the fall of '98 as part of a tour group for two nights. Very sterile - not much personality. It was very nice, just not your "quaint" hotel. It is not very well located, but with the metro in Paris that's not a real problem. It's free - I'd take it
! We spent another week on our own in Paris and stayed in the 7th....

For free I'd stay there, otherwise there are many more places that are more "French". It's a highrise/tower, typical big city hotel, not much character or personality from the outside anyway, but if it's free ... why not! It's close to the Eiffel Tower. Go and enjoy but remember it's not typical Paris.

Hi Tawny:

Congratulations on your win!! On 12/18 there was a posting called "Paris (French)detailed website" in which Elaine provided the most comprehensive list of Paris websites I've ever seen. Use it. It will help you locate your hotel precisely and determine which Metro and bus stops are nearby. Then you can use it to find restaurants in the neighborhood and figure out how long it will take to get to the other parts of Paris. It's a magnificent city. I'm sure you'll fall in love with it.
