Nice to digne les bains train Q?

I will be in Nice late August/ early September and looking to use the Nice to Dignes bains train.

http://www.trainprovence.com/pages/e...-la-ligne.html

I am thinking of getting off at Entrevaux and exploring the town, then returning to Nice afterwards.

Can anyone advise of their experiences on this trip and any recommended stop offs?
Entrevaux seems to be a great little town?

Thanks in Advance

You are proposing to do exactly what we did. It was a wonderful outing, so much so that we have an ambition to go again and do the entire length of the line, perhaps with an overnight or two.

Thanks Padraig,

I didn't notice any listed timetable on the site I posted.
Can I ask how long approx it takes for the train to arrive Entrevaux and how much time you spent in the village?

Thanks again

We stayed in a Gite in Entrevaux for 1 week in '07. Very interesting village. Quite small, however, so it will not take too long to visit. Perhaps 1 hr to visit - longer if you have lunch there, and longer if you climb up the Vauban fortified wall to the Citadel (too far for us to climb). My Michelin guide says it is a 1 hr climb to the citadel (not 100% sure if that is RT or one-way). The train station is close to the village. It is a 1 hr drive from Nice to Entrevaux - but I could not find a train schedule that indicates how long it takes the train to get there.

Timetable here : http://www.trainprovence.com/pages/f...e-a-digne.html

However and due to maintenance work on the tracks, buses will replace the train for some parts of the journey and the above timetable may change. See here for timetable until May 22 :

You should absolutely check with the station before going.

We did the Nice - Entrevaux train as a half-day trip a few years ago, and enjoyed it very much. Lots of pictures in our phototravelogue at http://www.kodakgallery.com/I.jsp?c=...g&x=0&y=-run25

I also did the trip from Nice to Entrevaux but it was back in November of 2001 - I guess it hasn't changed much...I walked up to the top of the Citadel and back - then took the train back to Nice. I thought it was a fun few hours.
Great photos, SemiMike!
