Nice is a mess

Most of the central Nice is still dug up ( it has benn for several years).
If you are heading in that direction, traffic is all backed up and the rush hour is a nightmare.

That's due to the tramway construction work which is doing on in several (many?) French cities, like Marseille another city I visit often.

They are not scheduled to complete tramway until 2008, or later this year.

Nice is not nice.

Also, the Picasso Museum is closed until 2008.

Having lived in Paris for so long -- and seeing the entire Champs Elysées dug up (parking lot, repaving, second row of trees), the square in front of Notre Dame (parking lot), the Louvre pyramid project, and so many other endless, ugly projects -- all I can say is that when it is finally done, it's all worth it. I'm sure that Nice will be magnificent -- some day.

One necessary project in Paris that makes me shudder -- as well as the people in charge, who keep putting it off -- is the Eiffel Tower visit revamp. Just imagine the whole Louvre pyramid project (including shopping mall, food center, etc.) transposed under the Eiffel Tower to imagine what it will entail...

What has happened to Cagnes sur Mer is a crime. It has been renovated and mainstreamed until it is not recognizable. It has lost its charm. I used to love it and now it is cement and palm trees.
