Paris - Your Top Ten Sights?
Paris is a visual and cultural feast for sure and everyone will have their different take on what they consider the City of Light's top lures for them. What are yours?
I'll start:
1- The Eiffel Tower - ascending to the 3rd floor.
2- The Louvre
3 - Notre-Dame Cathedral
4- Versailles (some will say it is not in Paris but IMO it is - only a short metro/RER ride away)
5- Gare d'Orsay Museum
6- Luxembourg Gardens
7- Tuileries Gardens and Courtyard of the Louvre
8- Montmartre
9- Seine boat cruise
10- Place del la Concorde from above view from Tuileries Gardens - with view up the Champs-Elysees to the Arc de Triomphe
ET TOI?

4. Listening to the street musicians playing on the bridges spanning the Seine.
5. Watch as the sun streams through the stained glass windows of St. Chappelle
6. Exiting the Louvre after dark onto the dimly lit courtyard.
7. Eating your picnic lunch in the Luxembourg gardens.

9. Wandering the narrow streets and alleyways in the Montmarte district while eating your first crepe.

Well I think Saint-Denis is off the radar of American tourists for sure but is such a remarkable historic place that we should consider it a top sight - I went there long ago and found the basilica at that time really grimy on the outside and in a dicey looking area. You post has made me want to go back next time in Paris to have a look - I assume the exterior has been cleaned up, etc. And Saint-Denis is easy to get to my metro - thanks for posting that - gives me another place to hit next time with anticipation.

A cafe on a busy intersection, a bottle of an adult beverage, and plenty of "scenery" walking by.
The inside of the dome of Galeries Lafayette.
Walking Faubourg Saint-Honore looking in the windows, seeing the expression in my wife's face, wishing I could say "Sure" to what she points at.
Seeing the lights turn on at the Eiffel Tower.
The quiet elegant casualness of the city - wondering how I could copy back home.

Yes Pal..the neighborhood around the Cathedral is a blue collar working class is not very pretty .There are few places to eat around the plaza, few clothings store and a large grocery store.
I am going back to Paris in September and will try to visit the Cathedral once again.
