Nice -- How long will you stay ? Shares your experience.
Hello Everybody,
In the coming summer, I will visit Nice and Avignon and Paris to spend my holidays.
As I have been to Paris and Avignon before but I have no idea to spend how many days in Nice.
If you have been to Nice, Can you share your experience with me?
Thus I can plan my trip when I stay there.
Thanks so much.
Gavin

Well some of that depends on YOU - your travel style and interests. I am pretty much a slow traveler, always stay at least 3 nights. IMO Nice has alot to offer and you could easily spend 5 nights there. Right in Nice are several museums plus the promenade, beach, old city, many shops and cafes for people watching. Then there is the rest of the area, Antibes, Cannes and Monaco as well as villages up in the hills. Super easy and cheap transportation by local bus. We spent a lovely morning at Villa Euphresi - a lovely villa with spectacular gardens. So there are alot of options depending on your interests - enjoy!

I love Nice. For the last 4 years I have gone to Paris for 2-4 weeks and then to Nice for 1 week,
I love the fact that you can just enjoy the town and ambiance or take very inexpensive public transportation to neighboring towns or villages such as Antibes, St.Paul de Vence, Cannes, etc.
There are also a few museums , the fabulous Russian Cathedral,
the Opera etc.
Nice is a fun walking town and has much to offer for a relaxing vacation. The beach is not a sandy beach but is great to sit on the boardwalk and just people watch.
I think the restaurants are very good and the food tends to be a combination of French and Italian.
I would suggest a stay of a few days to really get the feel of Nice.
Hope this helps.

Exactly what seuc said - a fine city and a great base for exploring the area.
I stayed at the Suisse and loved it. Very nice room with a little balcony. Great view of the sea and the Promenade from the east side of the Promenade. However, it was a bit of a hike to the train station. Nice is big.
Don't forget about Nice's Old Port, which is around the bend from the chateau / hill on the east side of town. Some good restaurants on the quai there.

I used to visit Nice every summer. It's a perfect combination for me of city and resort. My husband and I once spent the day walking all the way from Nice to St. Jean Cap Ferrat. Then we had a wonderful 3-hour seafood lunch there and took the bus back. It was a highlight of our many trips to Nice.
We've also enjoyed trips to St. Paul de Vence ( easy to get there on a bus from Nice), Grasse, Eze, and Cannes. We love to explore the art galleries in Nice, climb to the chateau just in back of Old Nice, walk the promenade, or spend an afternoon or two at one of the many beach clubs lining the Med.
Nice is one of my favorite cities- it's got a particular vibe to it that's way more welcoming than the glitzier resort cities/towns on the Riveria, and to top it all off, it has fantastic food of almost every kind!

Every time we visit Nice we wish we had stayed longer--there's so much to do and see and eat. Our last visit was for 5 days, not nearly long enough in an apartment that made eating in an option. I'd be happy spending the rest of my life in Nice!

We stayed in Nice for 3 nights and although that was about ten years ago I remember thinking that we could stay longer. As people suggested, you can do many nice side trips from there, if you think you are bored already. Our family favorite was to Monaco. We went there twice, on the train. For me, 4-5 nights would be good.
