Nice-Florence train route
I want to travel by train from Nice to Florence.....I've looked at schedules and know its quite a few connections...Any ideas how I can make this into a night train trip...maybe leave from somewhere other than Nice....and thereby avoid connections....thanks

I think your best bet on a night train would be Nice to Venice (leave 20:25, arrive 7:15). You could leave Venice at 8:33 and get to Florence at 11:22, or spend a little more time in Venice if you prefer.

Zil,
Looking at the schedules you can do this trip in as little as 6 hrs and 20 minutes during the day, with 2 connections. IMHO I think it would just be more complicated to turn that journey into a NT trip.

I agree with GregPCM. The day train connections are not that bad: two changes. Journeys are
Nice 0755, Ventimiglia 0840 to 0953, buffet car train, Pisa 1355 to 1428, Florence 1534
Nice 1001, buffet car train, Genoa Piazza Principale 1306 to 1452, buffet car train, Pisa 1655 to 1705, Florence 1832
